The Rapid Response Recognition Report is a quarterly recognition of providers who are “remarkable examples of excellence” during rapid response events at UNCMC.

Effective utilization of the Adult Rapid Response System at UNC Medical Center is essential in the early detection of clinically worsening patients, to ensure necessary resources are mobilized and adverse outcomes prevented. Rapid response events require teamwork, collaboration, closed loop communication, and respect for each other. UNC Medical Center’s Adult Rapid Response System has announced the “Rapid Response Recognition Report” for January 2022 through March 2022. The following is a stellar provider who demonstrated a remarkable example of excellence.
Department of Surgery
Jessica Biagiotti, MD
- “I had the pleasure of running several rapid responses with the SICU bed commander, Jessica Biagiotti. She was fantastic at every rapid I did with her. She listened to what the nursing staff and patient were saying. She remained calm, considerate, and professional in all cases. She recognized the patient’s needs quickly and thoughtfully devised plans of care. She considered multiple factors in making her decisions and listened to other’s ideas/suggestions. She even took time in the middle of a code sepsis rapid to recap the interventions that had been ordered and to check in on where we were in the process. She was very kind and approachable in all cases, even with the stress and challenges of what was going on in the unit she was covering. She made sure to check in with the charge nurse in the SICU, if a patient was heading there, to give them a heads up and discuss needs. All this to say, she did a fantastic job and I look forward to running rapid responses with her in the future. She is already becoming a great leader among surgery residents.”
