Margaret Dillon, AuD, PhD, has been named the director of clinical research for the Department of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery (OHNS).
Dillon is a North Carolina native who earned her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She started in the Department of OHNS in 2009 as a research audiologist and was named the director of cochlear implant clinical research after expanding the clinical research lab team.
Dillon’s research supported the expansion of candidacy criteria for cochlear implantation in the United States to include patients with normal-to-moderate low-frequency acoustic hearing and patients with normal to near-normal hearing in the contralateral ear, also known as single-sided deafness. She recently earned her PhD in Auditory Science at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her dissertation investigated the use of imaging to individualize the map settings for patients with hearing preservation who listen with electric-acoustic stimulation devices.
As the director of clinical research, Dillon will support the clinical research efforts of residents, fellows and faculty aimed at advancing the field of otolaryngology/head & neck surgery.
