A new article, published in Urology, traces the history of discovery on the relationship between smoking and bladder cancer (50% of all bladder cancers are caused by smoking). In the U.S., 81,000 new cases of bladder cancer were diagnosed in 2021, and 17,000 deaths occurred. Worldwide, 573,000 cases are diagnosed annually, making it the 6th most common cancer worldwide.
