Recognition reflects UNC Health’s commitment to providing excellent care for all patients
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Multiple hospitals affiliated with UNC Health have received top scores for patient safety and quality from the Leapfrog Group.
On Leapfrog’s Spring 2025 hospital safety report card, three UNC Health hospitals earned top “A” grades:
- UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill
- UNC Health Johnston, Clayton
- UNC Health Pardee, Hendersonville
“We are proud of our teammates and physicians, who are dedicated to providing excellent care for all of our patients,” said Dr. Wesley Burks, CEO of UNC Health. “These rankings and other recognitions are a testament to their commitment and important tools as we examine ways to continuously improve our hospitals and clinics across North Carolina.”
Leapfrog, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety, assigns grades to hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to UNC Health, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
