Robert Mueller, retired faculty member, has passed away at age 76
Robert Mueller, MD, PhD, passed away on Feb. 3. Mueller served as a professor of anesthesiology and pharmacology for 37 years before retiring in 2007. A visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 6, in Chapel Hill.

Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute awards funding to improve research of Dialysis
Researchers led by UNC Kidney Center’s Jenny Flythe, MD, MPH, have won a two-year award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) which will focus on building the research capacity in the dialysis community at the local level.

Monroe appointed Campus Director for Raleigh-WakeMed
Rasheeda Monroe, MD, has been appointed Campus Director for the UNC campus based at WakeMed in Raleigh. In this role, she will provide oversight and direction of UNC medical students’ educational activities and assignments while at WakeMed and the surrounding community.

UNC Family Medicine expands successful weight management program
After a successful start, the UNC Family Medicine Center’s Weight Management Program is expanding. During the last year, counselors have worked individually with more than 80 patients at the Family Medicine Center. Program results show that 60 percent of patients with at least four visits lost some weight, and 100 percent reported satisfaction with the care they received.
