ICMJE Adopts Uniform Format for Financial Disclosures

The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) has adopted a uniform format for the disclosure of financial associations of authors. To date, different journals have had different reporting requirements, which has led to inconsistencies and confusion regarding potential conflicts of interest.

The paper, titled, “Defective Aire-Dependent Central Tolerance to P0 Predisposes to Autoimmune Peripheral Neuropathy” was selected for its neuropathic insight. Children with severe obesity may be at higher risk for heart disease and diabetes
-
A new study led by researchers in the UNC Department of Pediatrics identifies a direct correlation between more severe forms of obesity in children and elevations in related risk factors for developing heart disease and diabetes—particularly in boys. The study was published in the October 2015 edition of the New England Journal of Medicine.

Training can ease pill swallowing problems even in young children

Children’s difficulty in swallowing pills is commonplace and can be a barrier to the child receiving optimal medical care. A recent review of published studies on this problem indicates that interventions, even in children as young as 2 years old, can yield positive results.
