Stay plugged in to make the VoIP transition on Dec. 9
If a new VoIP phone has been installed at your desk, make sure that it remains plugged in to the data port that is configured to support VoIP, even if it has not been activated. VoIP phones that have been installed in School of Medicine buildings will become active on Monday, Dec. 9.

Firewall Project for the School of Medicine
Universities including UNC are under constant threat from cyber attackers trying to access personal information and intellectual property. The Office of Information Services (OIS) has completed an assessment of all the devices on the School of Medicine network.

New Workstation Management Tool
OIS will remotely install a new management tool on all Microsoft Windows workstations beginning April 15. This new tool will install a client agent, Configuration Manager, and new anti-virus software, Endpoint Protection. Only Microsoft Windows workstations that are joined to the domain ad.unc.edu will be affected, and machines will install this software on reboot only. UNC-Guest Wireless to be discontinued on November 29
ITS plans to permanently remove the wireless access channel known as UNC-Guest from the UNC campus network on Wednesday, November 29. It is being replaced by a more robust and more secure access channel labeled as UNC-Guest-PSK. Read more for information on how to connect to UNC-Guest-PSK.

Voice Over IP (VoIP) Phone Transition for MacNider and Old Clinic has been delayed
The VoIP phone transition previously scheduled for Thursday, August 27 has been delayed. A new date will be announced once confirmed by AT&T and Verizon. Please check http://help.med.unc.edu/voip for status updates. It is important to make sure your new VoIP phone remains plugged in to the wall.
