Call for Nominations: Hyman L. Battle Distinguished Cancer Research Award
The Dean’s Office is now seeking nominations for the third Hyman L. Battle Distinguished Cancer Research Award. The purpose of the award, which was established in 2007 by the Battle Foundation of Rocky Mount, is to recognize sustained, exceptional cancer research over a career by faculty at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

UNC Family Medicine Part of Collaborative Receiving Large Award to Reduce Health Disparities in Rural South
Researchers from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, in partnership with researchers from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and East Carolina University, were awarded more than $9 million to study ways to improve blood pressure in the rural South.

UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill has been designated a Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality for the 2018 Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) survey. Liles selected as American College of Physicians Top Hospitalist for 2014
E. Allen Liles, MD, is one of 10 nationwide selected for this honor and featured in the November issue of ACP Hospitalist. Liles is director of the UNC Hospitals Medicine Program and associate professor in the Division of General Medicine & Clinical Epidemiology.
