VIDEO: Treating pregnant women for mild gestational diabetes reduces serious birthing problems
"This study is important because it clearly indicates the value to mothers and their newborns of screening for and treatment of diabetes-like conditions provoked by pregnancy,” said John M. Thorp, MD, McAllister distinguished professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the UNC School of Medicine and a co-author of the study.

N.E.D. Comes to the Triangle
N.E.D. (No Evidence of Disease) is a band comprised of six Gynecologic Oncologists, including UNC's own John Soper and John Boggess. The band released an EP in September, and they have two upcoming shows in the Triangle.

UNC maternal-fetal medicine leads team in EXIT delivery
A baby was delivered at UNC Hospitals on Thursday, Nov. 12, via an EXIT (ex utero intrapartum fetal treatment) procedure. A rare occurrence anywhere, it was the third EXIT procedure performed at UNC Hospitals since 2003.
