Basket-Ball gala to benefit UNC Children’s in April
UNC men’s basketball legend and 1978 NCAA national player of the year, Phil Ford, and voice of the Tar Heels, Jones Angell, will be at the helm helping raise money for UNC Children’s at the N.C. Children’s Promise’s ninth annual gala, the Basket-Ball.

Be a "Donuter Supporter" this weekend for the Children's Hospital
N.C. State University's newest (and perhaps most infamous) tradition, the Krispy Kreme Challenge, returns for a sixth year on Saturday, Feb. 6, to raise money for N.C. Children's Hospital. Although runner registration is full, you can still support the cause by signing up to be a "Donuter supporter" for $10 and get a commemorative event T-shirt.

The Pediatric Interest Group of UNC School of Medicine and Kids Cards invite you to the 5th annual Bids For Kids benefit art auction on May 7. All the work is done by the children of N.C. Children’s Hospital and the proceeds raised benefit patients and families of N.C. Children’s Hospital.

Burks to step down as Chair of Department of Pediatrics and Physician-in-Chief of UNC Children’s
Wesley Burks, MD, has announced that he will step down from his position as chair of the Department of Pediatrics and physician-in-chief of UNC Children’s. He will continue to serve as executive dean of the School of Medicine.

Care Beyond the Clinic
UNC student volunteers and the families they serve recently gathered at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham to celebrate completion of the first year of Beyond Clinic Walls for Kids, an interdisciplinary student group that identifies – and seeks to meet – the medical and social needs of pediatric patients and their families outside the clinic setting.

Caring for Children in Haiti: 2014
Joshua Alexander, MD, director of pediatric rehabilitation at the N.C. Children’s Hospital and associate professor at UNC Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, will be caring once again for disabled children at the Zanmi Beni Orphanage in Haiti this May, along with Timothy Sanford, MD, a medical resident in PM&R. Zanmi Beni was created to care for physically and/or mentally handicapped orphans, who were displaced by the devastating earthquake in January 2010.

Celebrating Father’s Day in support of N.C. Children’s Hospital
The annual Eric Montross Father’s Day Basketball Camp was held recently at the Dean E. Smith Center. The camp offers an opportunity for fathers and their children to spend two days of quality time together while supporting the N.C. Children’s Hospital.
