Congratulations to the 2015-16 U.S. News & World Report ranked hospitals for the UNC Health Care System.  Overall, 10 specialties at UNC Hospitals were recognized as nationally ranked or high performing by U.S. News & World Report in its annual "America's Best Hospitals" issue.  Rex Hospital and Pardee Hospital were also included in the 2015-16 rankings.

In addition, N.C. Children’s Hospital has three specialties nationally ranked by U.S. News for children’s hospitals.  The UNC School of Medicine is ranked the No. 2 medical school for primary care and is tied for No. 22 for research.

National Recognitions by Specialty
University of North Carolina Hospitals is nationally ranked (Top 50) in:
- Cancer (No. 32)
- Ear, Nose & Throat (No. 18)
- Gynecology (No. 25)
- Pulmonology (No. 34)
- Urology (No. 49)

University of North Carolina Hospitals is high-performing (representing the top 25 percent of hospitals in their specialty nationally) in:
- Diabetes & Endocrinology
- Gastroenterology & GI Surgery
- Geriatrics
- Nephrology
- Neurology & Neurosurgery

Rex Hospital is high-performing (representing the top 25 percent of hospitals in their specialty nationally) in:

Regional Recognitions

University of North Carolina Hospitals is ranked No. 3 in North Carolina and is recognized among the Best Hospitals in the Piedmont region (NC). It also is ranked No. 2 in the Raleigh-Durham metro area.

Rex Hospital is ranked No. 11 in North Carolina and is recognized among the Best Hospitals in the Piedmont region (NC). It also is ranked No. 4 in the Raleigh-Durham metro area.

Pardee Hospital is ranked No. 13 in North Carolina and is recognized among the Best Hospitals in the Mountains region (NC).
