UNC Audiology Professor Awarded Outstanding Educator Award
UNC-Chapel Hill Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences Dr. Stephanie Sjoblad was recently awarded the Outstanding Educator Award from the American Academy of Audiology. The award is given by asking colleagues, friends, and mentees in their professional circles to nominate colleagues who deserve recognition for outstanding service to audiology and the hearing sciences.

Press Ganey Recognizes UNC Health in 2024 Human Experience Awards
The Bone Marrow Transplant Clinic at North Carolina Basnight Cancer Hospital won the Pinnacle of Excellence Award. The North Carolina Heart & Vascular Hospital and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UNC Health Rex in Raleigh both won the Guardian of Excellence Award.

The 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to David Baker, Demis Hassabis, and John M. Jumper for their groundbreaking work in computational protein design and protein structure prediction. Flores, Phanstiel named HHMI Gilliam Fellows
The Howard Hughes Medical Institute awarded Gilliam Fellowships to 50 graduate students in science – and their advisers – following the largest competition in the program’s history. John Patrick Flores and his adviser Douglas Phanstiel, PhD, associate professor of cell biology and physiology, were selected in the 19th year of the program.
