UNC Global Radiology: Addressing Imaging Inequities At Home Through a Global Health Lens

In late 2020, UNC Global Radiology addressed a health equity crisis in North Carolina using a model of community health partnership applied successfully in Kenya and Malawi. The COVID-19 pandemic has perpetuated a concerning trend of at-risk patients foregoing preventive healthcare across the U.S. In response, the UNC Department of Radiology is addressing local women’s health care imaging inequities through a global health lens.

Mauricio Castillo Named First Matthew A. Mauro, M.D. Distinguished Professor of Radiology

UNC Department of Radiology is pleased to announce Mauricio Castillo, MD, FACR, has been named the first Matthew A. Mauro MD Distinguished Professor of Radiology. Approved by the University’s Board of Trustees in January 2021, Castillo’s appointment culminates UNC Radiology’s five-year campaign toward endowing and selecting a highly esteemed faculty member with the field and institutional expertise to advance UNC Radiology’s tripartite mission of advancing patient care, education and research.
