At ten years old, Jahliah Parker likes to have fun with her siblings, play on her Nintendo Switch, and, along with thousands of other children across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, is ready to go back to in-person school. She is an ordinary kid except for one little thing, her congenital heart condition. Jahliah suffers from Ebstein’s Anomaly, a rare disease treated with world-class care at UNC Health.

The American Burn Association (ABA) conducted a site visit on June 18, 2021 of the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center. The ABA Burn Center Verification Review Committee approved the site report and has approved the Burn Center for re-verification as an Adult and Pediatric Burn Center through July 31, 2024. They commend the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center for its commitment to excellence and its dedication to providing quality burn care to patients.

Lee Conner was diagnosed with influenza A, a severe strain of the flu, coupled with Strep pyogenes pneumonia. This combination left Lee unconscious, forcing his family to make the decision to put him on ECMO. His pregnant wife and family stayed by his side as he fought to heal.
