On March 1, a new law (NC S.L. 2011-349) passed by the North Carolina General Assembly will go into effect. The new law requires the presentation of a valid photo ID prior to dispensing of any new and refill Schedule II or certain Schedule III prescriptions.

Beginning Oct. 1, visitors of patients who are on Contact Precautions will no longer be required to wear gloves and a gown while visiting in the Contact Precautions room. This policy change is consistent with the CDC recommendations for the control of multi-drug resistance bacteria.

Effective with the Feb. 16 payday, a new system featuring electronic pay statements and forms will be available to all employees. Through this system, employees will have online access to pay history, W-2s, and payroll-related change forms.

In light of current economic conditions, thousands of North Carolinians are unemployed or have lost their health insurance coverage. In order to continue providing a high level of service, and to be fair to all North Carolina citizens, UNC Health Care is asking for cooperation from all of its patients to pay co-payments and deposits as the time of their visit. However, we want to emphasize that no one who needs care will be turned away.
