Brad Figler, MD, associate professor of urology, received the award for his work creating the UNC Transgender Health Program as a way to support coordination and quality of care for transgender patients. Recent SOM graduates Noa Nessim, MD, and Margo Faulk, MD, received their awards for starting the Gender Affirming Care Clinic at UNC’s Student Health Action Coalition (SHAC, the nation’s first student-run free clinic).

The findings by UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center researchers were drawn from an analysis of 346 men newly diagnosed between 2011 and 2013 with low or intermediate-risk prostate cancer in North Carolina. Ronald Chen, MD, MPH, led this study.

Smith, MD, MS, an associate professor in the UNC School of Medicine Department of Urology and director of urologic oncology, and her collaborators were awarded a contract from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to compare bladder removal with medical therapy in bladder cancer patients.

The review is a standard procedure of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The committee invites your written or verbal comments, suggestions and relevant information.
