Alert Carolina siren test - Tuesday, Feb. 16
The University will test the emergency sirens and text messages on Tuesday, Feb. 16, between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. The University tests the sirens each semester to make sure the equipment works.

On April 16, the Epic@UNC Beaker Labs application, which is used to manage labs and specimens, will Go-Live at UNC Medical Center, UNC REX Healthcare, Chatham Hospital, and UNC Physicians Network. Prior to that date, there are many opportunities for clinicians that work outside of the lab to participate in learning activities.
Important message from Dr. Weber regarding Zika virus
Please review this message from Dr. David J. Weber, Associate Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Hospital Epidemiology at UNC Hospitals, which provides an overview of the Zika virus outbreak and actions required at UNC Medical Center if a patient traveled to Zika outbreak areas while pregnant. Note that this information is precautionary – we have not seen any confirmed cases of the Zika virus in North Carolina at this time.
UNC Hospitals receives more AACN Beacon Awards than any other hospital
In 2015, three units at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, received Gold-level Beacon Awards and three received Silver. With the addition of these units, the hospital now has seven Beacon-recognized units. The Beacon Award for Excellence lauds top hospital units that employ evidence-based practices to improve patient and family outcomes and that align those practices with AACN’s Healthy Work Environment Standards.
