Mark Miller to Join UNC Health Care as Senior Vice President for Finance
Mark Miller, CPA, MBA, will join UNC Health Care as Senior Vice President for Finance on January 11. This position was previously held by Bernadette Spong.
New Human Resource System Executive Directors
Several months ago, we shared with you that UNC Health Care is in the process of creating a system Human Resources department for our owned facilities (Caldwell, Chatham, High Point Regional, UNC REX Healthcare, UNC Medical Center and UNC Physicians Network). The first step in this process was naming Bill Rotella as system vice president of Human Resources for UNC Health Care. The next step is naming the system executive directors who will work with Bill to chart the future for the system’s Human Resources department.
Six more ambulatory clinics now live with Epic@UNC
On Tuesday, Jan. 12, six more ambulatory clinics, including the first clinics at Pardee Hospital, went live with Epic@UNC.

Tonges retiring Feb. 1 as UNC Hospitals Senior VP, Chief Nursing Officer
Mary Tonges, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, UNC Hospitals' Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, will retire on Feb. 1, 2016. A search for a new CNO for UNC Hospitals is underway and we anticipate naming a new CNO within the next two weeks.

The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) will conduct an accreditation site visit of UNC Carolina Air Care on March 3 - 4.
Improvements to Communication of Referral Status in Epic@UNC
Beginning Jan. 17, when a Referral Coordinator or any employee working in the Schedule Orders Workqueue removes a referral order, he/she must first select from an updated list of "Removal Reasons." Each Removal Reason is then mapped to a scheduling status that will be updated automatically in Epic@UNC. Depending on the Removal Reason selected, a letter also may be automatically generated from Epic@UNC and sent to the referring provider, with the goal of notifying referring providers more quickly about the status of referrals.
Beaker Technical Dress Rehearsal underway
In preparation for the April 16 Epic@UNC Beaker Labs Go-Live at UNC Medical Center, Chatham Hospital, UNC REX Healthcare, and UNC Physicians Network, Technical Dress Rehearsal (TDR) teams are now visiting units and clinics to confirm that all lab label printers and other equipment is ready for Go-Live.
