'Health Maintenance' updates coming Friday, July 8

On Friday, July 8, the Epic@UNC Healthy Planet (population health) team will release several Health Maintenance updates.

  • Pap Smear Health Maintenance updates
    • Automated addition of the Total Hysterectomy modifier if there is evidence of a total hysterectomy documented in a woman's chart either on her Problem List, under Surgical History, or under Procedures.
    • A new Health Maintenance Topic for HPV will be available for female patients on the co-testing Health Maintenance plans. When entering outside records, HPV needs to be entered separate from the pap smear result.
    • Women age 30-65 that have a Pap Smear and Negative HPV and no other pap smear Health Maintenance modifiers will automatically be switched to a 'Pap Smear with Cotest HPV every 5 years' Health Maintenance plan.
    • Note:
      • It may take up to 10 days for updates to all affected patient records to be reflected in Epic@UNC. To see updates immediately, click the “Update HM” button at the top right of the Health Maintenance Activity.
      • For specialties that are currently using the Cervical Cancer Screening Best Practice Advisory, it will temporarily be turned off on Friday, July 8, while the updates are being made. It will be turned on again on Monday, July 11.

  • New Health Maintenance topics available
    • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening will now be active for male current or former smokers age 65-75. For more details see the AAA Tip Sheet.
    • Chest CT for lung cancer screening can be activated for patients by adding Health Maintenance modifiers. For more details, see the Lung Cancer Screening Tools tipsheet.
