Removal of ‘Pneumococcal, Unspecified Formulation’ historical immunization March 24
In keeping with updated pneumococcal vaccine recommendations from the CDC, UNC Health Care's Population Health team and ISD are preparing updated adult Pneumococcal Vaccine Health Maintenance Topics in Epic@UNC for April 2016. The new recommendations require us to remove the Historical Immunization “Pneumococcal, Unspecified Formulation” from Epic@UNC on March 24.

Details on removal of 'Override' ability from Health Maintenance
Recently, the ability to use "Override" to satisfy Health Maintenance topics in Epic@UNC was removed. This change was made in order support recommended workflows for documenting Health Maintenance performed outside of the UNC Health Care System.
UNC Medical Center Paid Time Off and Compensation changes effective Jan. 1, 2017 (Intranet link)
As part of Carolina Value, the Human Resources Solutions Team was asked to review benefits, compensation and paid time off practices for all UNC Health Care entities. The goal was to ensure that we offer cost-effective and sustainable benefits while maintaining our ability to attract and retain the best employees. The Carolina Value Executive Steering committee and UNC Medical Center leadership have approved changes that are effective Jan. 1, 2017. Human Resources has compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions about these changes, a link to which you will also find on this Intranet page.

Hospital Leaders Don Gowns for Patient Safety
In a show of solidarity with our patients, Dr. Brian Goldstein, Chief Operating Officer, and Dr. Tony Lindsey, Chief Medical Officer, took to the halls of UNC Hospitals wearing patient gowns last week. This coincided with Patient Safety Awareness Week, which is an important opportunity for us to acknowledge our critical mission of providing high-quality, safe care for our patients. In the end, we are ALL patients, and our leaders are committed to listening to our patients’ voices, to providing top-notch healthcare, and to eliminating patient harms.
