Final Four transportation and parking updates

Please read this important information from UNC Transportation & Parking regarding the transportation and parking impacts -- and potential impacts -- of the UNC men's basketball appearance in the Final Four.

The UNC men’s basketball team has advanced to the NCAA Final Four Championship in Houston, Texas. Consequently, preparations are underway for potential event operations along Franklin Street and the north portions of campus.  Additionally, preparations are underway to televise the semifinal game and potentially the national championship game in the Dean E. Smith Center on Saturday, April 2, and Monday, April 4

Consequently, some parking lots will be reserved and completely cleared of vehicles. Other lots will be used for public parking, but will not require vehicles to relocate.

The Williamson S11 Lot will be used for disability parking for the Smith Center “big screen” showing of the games. Vehicles parked in the Williamson Lot on Saturday and Monday will not need to relocate. However, if UNC wins the national championship, the Williamson Lot will be closed on Tuesday, April 5, in order to accommodate patrons with disabilities attending the yet to be determined welcome home celebrations. Alternate S11 parking will be available in the Manning S11 Lots.

The Bowles “S11” Lot will also be used for public parking for the Smith Center “big screen” showing. Approximately 125 spaces in the lot and near Kenan Center Drive will be delineated and reserved for disability overflow parking and media overflow parking. Parking in this area without a valid state disability permit or valid media permit will be prohibited. Vehicles parked in other portions of the Bowles Lot will not need to relocate. Alternate S11 parking will be available in the S11 Manning Lots.
