2016 Carolina Care Service Awards

On Thursday, Oct. 6, UNC Hospitals held the first Carolina Care Service Awards for inpatient units and departments that provided exceptional care and service for our patients during the 2016 fiscal year.

UNC Hospitals cared for a high volume of inpatients during the 2016 fiscal year, but the quality of our care did not suffer. Our patient experience scores, measured by Press Ganey and compared to our benchmarks, improved to an overall mean score of 88.1, placing UNC Hospitals in the 82nd percentile nationally and exceeding our goal of the 66th percentile.

Additionally, our overall HCAHPS score for the 2016 fiscal year was 79.2%, which exceeded our goal of 66%.

To mark these achievements, UNC Hospitals held its inaugural Carolina Care Service Awards. The event was held in Old Clinic Auditorium on Thursday, Oct. 6. Below, please see which units and departments were honored and read a sampling of what our patients had to say about the care and service at UNC Hospitals in FY16.

Cardiothoracic Stepdown Unit
The Cardiothoracic Stepdown Unit achieved the Most Improved Mean Score for Press Ganey for FY 2016.
