New image viewer in Epic@UNC for UNC Medical Center images
At 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, the Epic@UNC image hyperlinks at UNC Medical Center will transition from Impax to UNC Health Care's new viewer, called NIL. The NIL viewer offers the same Epic@UNC-based image accessibility and tool sets as Impax.
Longitudinal Plan of Care accessible for all providers/staff
All Epic@UNC users can now access the outpatient Longitudinal Plan of Care (LPOC) for each patient. The LPOC is automatically-generated based on data already in the patient's chart and includes a summary of the patient's care, goals, and past/future encounters, the patient’s care team, etc.
Providers: 'Progress' note type set to auto-populate
Effective immediately, the “Progress” note type is now set to auto-populate for all physicians when creating a new note within the 'Progress' tab of the 'Notes' activity. The OB Triage note type, which was creating an issue, has been removed from the 'Progress' notes tab.

Lab Memo - Molecular Testing by NextGeneration Sequencing for mutations associated with Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia
Effective immediately, the UNC Hospitals Molecular Genetics Laboratory performs DNA sequencing of 35 genes associated with primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) and an additional two genes associated with conditions that present similarly to PCD. Please read entire memo.

To help UNC Health Care system shared services teams, like ISD and Human Resources, work more collaboratively in order to better serve our customers, UNC Health Care has leased space in two Morrisville buildings: 1025 Think Place and 5221 Paramount Parkway. Both buildings are located next to each other in the same office park. Human Resources teams will begin moving to the UNC Health Care’s Morrisville campus in January. Workers instructed to use containment booths in construction areas of high-risk patients
Construction, renovation and improvement projects are in full-swing at UNC Hospitals. Removing ceiling tiles in patient care areas increases the risk of infection with fungal spores by immunocompromised patients. Hospital Epidemiology has identified areas with patients who are at highest risk. In these areas, workers will be instructed to use containment booths.
