UNC Men’s Basketball Season Begins Friday, Nov. 1; Game Day Parking Permits Now Available in the Hospital Parking Office

The UNC Men’s Basketball Season officially begins Friday evening, Nov. 1, 2019 with an exhibition game in the Dean E. Smith Center. To support game operations, several parking areas within the S11 Bowles Lot, the S11 Manning “upper” Lot and Williamson Drive will be pre-blocked on the nights preceding home games throughout the season. Parking in those blocked areas will be prohibited throughout the game day beginning 5 a.m. that morning through the end of event egress. Find more information here.

Over 80 percent of health care personnel at UNC Medical Center are now flu compliant. All health care personnel must be flu compliant by November 18 at 8 a.m. Occupational Health will be offering special “pop up” clinics on the days and times listed at this link. In addition, Occupational Health Service will be open for “walk in” flu vaccine appointments Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Main Hospital and Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon at Occupational Health at UNC Hospitals at Hillsborough.

APP Students now have access to all physician notes; Do not use ‘Advanced Practice Provider Student Note’

Advanced Practice Provider (APP) students now have access to all notes that a physician can write in Epic@UNC. However, APP students only have the ability to ‘Share’ notes. They cannot sign, pend, or send for cosign. In the near future, we will be removing the ‘APP Student Note’ type. If you have any concerns about this change, contact the ISD Service Desk at 984-974-4357.

New Provider Alert When Hemoglobin A1C Testing Has Been Ordered Within 90 Days of a Previous Order

On Monday, Nov. 4, a new message will be implemented to alert the provider that a Hemoglobin A1C test was ordered within 90 days of a previous Hemoglobin A1C order. This update will impact inpatient and outpatient orders. The provide can choose to continue with the order or remove the order at the time of the message. See a screenshot of the alert here.

PTO Leave Sell Back Program Nov. 1 – 29

UNC Medical Center will offer Paid Time Off (PTO) sell-back election periods quarterly to employees. To be eligible for the sell-back options, employees must have at least 88 hours of PTO available. Employees are eligible to automatically receive a sell-back based on their election of 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of all hours over 80 with a minimum of eight hours required for distribution. The first floor of the Neurosciences Hospital and the second floor of the Hillsborough Hospital will both experience downtimes between 12:30 and 2 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4. During the downtime, all wired and wireless devices (i.e. PCs, Laptops, WOWs, Capsule, EKGs, Vocera, Desk Phones, Mobile Phones using Wi-Fi, etc.) will not be able to connect to the network. RSV Visitor Restrictions Begin Nov. 4

​Due to an increase in the number of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases in the community, children 11 years of age and younger are prohibited from visiting the Newborn Critical Care Center, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, 5 Children’s/Intermediate Care, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and their waiting areas at UNC Hospitals effective November 4 to help ensure the safety of our patients.
