Advocacy and Outreach Director, North Carolina Down Syndrome Alliance

Donna Beckmann has been honing her advocacy skills over the past two decades. Whether talking to school personnel or legislators, she can effectively and efficiently deliver her message, and in the same manner, teach others to do the same. The mother of a young man with Down syndrome, Donna has used her skills both professionally and personally.

“Personal Empowerment: Having your Voice Heard from the Schoolhouse to the Statehouse”

Learn how to tailor your message to deliver it effectively and efficiently.  Be part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

Learning objectives:

  1.  Know the difference between communicating and complaining
  2.  Understand the importance of your personal, lived experience
  3.  Learn how to craft a concise yet informative message
