Cairns Capstone Lecture | Culture and Child Development: Historical and Theoretical Perspectives

Each semester, the Carolina Consortium on Human Development celebrates its proseminar series with the Robert B. Cairns Capstone Lecture in recognition of his outstanding contributions to scholarship and mentoring of developmental scientists. Dr. Cynthia García Coll from the University of Puerto Rico is the recipient of this honor for our Spring 2021 series on Culture & Developmental Science: Considering Context, Culture, and Intersectional Approaches. We are honored Dr. García Coll will join us on Monday, May 3rd from 2:00pm-3:15pm to present Culture and Child Development: Historical and Theoretical Perspectives. Dr. Cynthia García Coll is an Adjunct Professor in the Pediatrics Department at the University of Puerto Rico Medical School and the Charles Pitts Robinson and John Palmer Barstow Professor Emerita, at Brown University. Her research focuses on the interplay of sociocultural and biological influences on child development, with particular emphasis on populations that live in at risk conditions and/or are considered minorities.
