Dr. Manuel Ascano, Jr.’s research focuses on post-transcriptional gene regulation in innate immunity and cellular stress. His lab investigates how RNA-binding proteins regulate gene expression, particularly during nucleic acid-induced stress and immune activation. Using advanced biochemical and molecular techniques like PAR-CLIP, his team explores RNA-protein interactions at a transcriptome-wide level to understand how cells differentiate between self and non-self nucleic acids, a crucial process in antiviral defense.
