Fall Convocation and Award Ceremony

The UNC SOM Student Government invites you to the Fall Convocation and Award Ceremony on August 3rd at 12pm (MBRB 2204) to welcome the incoming class of 2026, and to recognize the efforts of students, faculty, and residents at the UNC SOM.
In 1947 a tradition was established to recognize the high standards and leadership within the medical community of UNC through a lecture to the new students. The lecturer is nominated and voted on by UNC SOM students, and chosen by UNC SOM Student Government representatives. The selection is based on qualities of leadership, dedication, and devotion to medicine and teaching.
A certificate is given in recognition of distinguished contribution to the science and art of medicine. Being elected to deliver the Fall Convocation lecture is among the highest honors for faculty members at the School of Medicine.
