Metabolites as biomarkers and mediators of host resilience in acute lung injury

March 4, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Free

Please join NC TraCS and the Marsico Lung Institute for a CTSA Grand Rounds seminar on March 4 at 9 a.m. with Tomeka Suber, MD, PhD. Suber will discuss the pathogenesis of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) with a focus on her work identifying metabolites that are predictive of ARDS sub-phenotypes.

Suber is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and a K Scholar. She studies host defense mechanisms in intrapulmonary bacterial infections that lead to acute respiratory distress syndrome. She has also studied how the regulation of protein stability by the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway modulates lung epithelial responses during inflammation.

Suber received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2002. She completed her graduate and medical degrees at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2010.
