UNC Family Medicine 17th Annual Robert R. Huntley Lecture with Dr. Mandy Cohen

The UNC Family Medicine Robert R. Huntley, MD Lecture’s mission is to raise awareness of research and innovation in family medicine and primary care in the US. The lecture serves as an educational resource for physicians, researchers, residents, fellows, students, patients, and community members interested in improving health care.
Working with others across the U.S., the UNC Department of Family Medicine’s mission is to help transform the nation’s health care system to be more patient-centered, efficient and effective with dramatically improved quality and lower costs for all. This work has resulted in recognition as a national leader in innovative primary care, research, medical education and community service.
For the 17th Annual Robert R. Huntley Lecture UNC Family Medicine is proud to welcome Mandy K. Cohen, MD, MPH, Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Dr. Cohen’s topic will be Health Care Priorities for North Carolina in 2021.
Dr. Mandy Cohen was appointed Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in January 2017 by Governor Roy Cooper and leads the COVID-19 response for the State of North Carolina. Secretary Cohen has been recognized a national leader for her work at DHHS, being named one of the Top 25 Women Leaders in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare, earning the Public Health Practice Award from Harvard University School of Public Health, and most recently being named the 2020 “Tarheel of the Year” by the Raleigh News and Observer for her leadership throughout the pandemic. An innovator in health care, Dr. Cohen has made closing the coverage gap in North Carolina a key priority.
