UNC Medical Center is ranked #50 in the United States, UNC REX is #148 on Newsweek’s inaugural list of The World’s Best Hospitals.

CHAPEL HILL, NC – Both UNC Medical Center and UNC REX Healthcare are included on Newsweek Magazine’s inaugural list of The World’s Best Hospitals. UNC Medical Center ranks #50 in the United States and UNC Rex ranks #148. In all, more than 250 American hospitals were included in the rankings.

Newsweek’s list of the world’s best hospitals recognizes 1,000 outstanding hospitals across 11 countries: USA, Canada, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia, and Israel.

Hospitals were ranked based on three key factors: peer recommendations, patient experience surveys, and quality metrics including treatment quality and hygiene measures. Newsweek created the rankings in partnership with Statista, an online statistics, market research, and business intelligence portal.

After nearly 100 years of covering health care, Newsweek compiled its inaugural list of Best Hospitals to recognize the hospitals “shaping the future of medicine.”

The full list of hospitals can be seen online here and in the next edition of Newsweek.
