North Carolina Children's Specialty Clinic opens in Raleigh

The new outpatient clinic is an extension of N.C. Children's Hospital's outpatient pediatric clinic located at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

North Carolina Children’s Specialty Clinic in Raleigh officially opened for business today at 4414 Lake Boone Trail in Raleigh, in the medical office building next to the Rex Birthing Center. The new outpatient clinic is an extension of N.C. Children's Hospital's outpatient pediatric clinic located at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

"With nearly a third of our patients residing in Wake and its surrounding counties, this clinic represents something unique in addressing the state-wide shortage of pediatric subspecialists," said Dr. Alan Stiles, physician in chief at N.C. Children’s Hospital and chair of pediatrics in the UNC School of Medicine. "Not only will it allow us to bring very specialized pediatric care closer to home for thousands of Triangle-area families, the clinic will help expedite the care of children all over the state by freeing up capacity in our outpatient clinic at UNC."

The clinic will be open Monday through Friday, except holidays. Appointments are available by physician referral; more information may be obtained by calling the clinic at (919) 783-7809.

The following specialty areas are currently seeing patients at the Specialty Clinic:

  • Pediatric Surgery
  • Pediatric Pulmonology
  • Pediatric Endocrinology
  • Pediatric Gastroenterology
  • Pediatric Genetics and Metabolism
  • Pediatric Behavior & Development
  • Pediatric Diagnostic Referral Service (for the evaluation of complex diagnostic dilemmas)

The Specialty Clinic was made possible in part by the generosity of the John Rex Endowment.
