Nicholson Invited to Serve on NIH's NRCS Study Section

Wanda K. Nicholson, MD, MPH, MBA, associate professor and director of Diabetes and Obesity Core at the Center for Women’s Research, will join the Nursing and Related Clinical Sciences Study Section, Center for Scientific Review, at the National Institutes of Health.

“I am honored to be selected to serve with such an intelligent and committed group of people,” she said.

Nicholson’s term as a new member of the NRCS Study Section began July 1, 2012 and will end on June 30, 2018.

In these six years, her work will entail reviewing grant applications submitted to the NRCS study section and presenting grants at the study section meeting two times each year.

“As an ad hoc member over the last year, I have had the opportunity to review several innovative proposals that will advance the health of adults and children. I look forward to continuing to participate in the NIH peer review process,” she said.

Her invitation into this study section was contingent upon her proficiency and aptitude in her work seen through her research, publications in scientific journals, and other important scientific activities, honors and accomplishments.

The honor of participating in a study section requires great commitment and energy that contributes to the national biomedical research effort.

“I have the upmost respect for the commitment, dedication and attention to detail required by study section members,” Nicholson said.
