Inaugural UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health Gala
The UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health (UNC CECMH) will hold the inaugural Fundraising Gala at UNC George Watts Hill Building on Friday, November 7, 2014. The gala will feature musical entertainment and a dinner. Our guest speaker will be Ms. Lee Smith, author and mental health advocate.

The first model American World Health Organization (AMWHO) Conference will be held at the Gillings School of Global Public Health. AMWHO is the nation's very first simulation of the World Health Assembly, and seeks to educate undergraduate and graduate students from across the nation on the proceedings of global health affairs.

Rehabilitation Engineering Seed Grants Due Sept. 9
The Joint UNC-NCSU Rehabilitation Engineering Pilot Grant Program was established to facilitate collaboration for attaining larger grants, and to foster collaboration between undergraduate engineers at NCSU/UNC and Health Sciences students at UNC. For grant funding, we will consider proposals that foster advancement of clinically relevant rehabilitation engineering research through effective collaboration.
Supported employment initiative will assist individuals with serious mental illness in finding a job
As a Dartmouth Research site, the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health is launching a North Carolina Individual Placement and Support (IPS) supported employment initiative to help individuals with mental illness find jobs.

Five-Year Review of Don Rose, PhD; Director, Carolina KickStart
An ad hoc committee has been appointed to undertake a routine administrative review of the leadership provided by Dr. Don Rose in his position as Director of Carolina KickStart. The five-year review is a standard procedure of the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The review will take place over the next several months.
