Peden elected to leadership role in American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology

David Peden, MD, MS, has been elected to the leadership track of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI).

He will hold the position of secretary/treasurer for 2015-2016, followed by consecutive one-year terms as president-elect, president and past president.

Peden serves as Andrews Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics, UNC School of Medicine, senior associate dean for translational research and director, Center for Environmental Medicine, Asthma and Lung Biology. Much of his research focuses on the impact of pollution and other environmental factors on human health. He frequently collaborates on research with the Environmental Protection Agency as well as other researchers across the UNC System.

Peden has been extensively involved in the AAAAI, serving as a member of the organization’s board of directors and chair of multiple committees.

The AAAAI is the leading Allergy/Immunology professional society with more than 6,800 members in the United States, Canada and 72 other countries.
