Funding opportunity: Lineberger’s Health-e-NC core project

Health-e-NC, a core project of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, supported by the University Cancer Research Fund, announces its fourth round of pilot funding to stimulate innovative intervention research to optimize cancer outcomes.

Priority for funding in this current round will be for pilot intervention research that helps optimize the Carolina Health Assessment & Resource Tool. A total of $325,000 is available for 12-month awards that will begin in September 2014; PI’s can request up to $75,000 to conduct pilot research that incorporates CHART in their intervention studies (refer to RFA for more details).

Health-e-NC developed the Carolina Health Assessment and Resource Tool (CHART) for UNC researchers to facilitate the data collection process and enhance interventions. CHART is a unique online tool for researchers to:

1. Assess behavioral risk factors for cancer and other chronic health conditions
2. Improve participant/patient awareness and motivation to modify behavioral risks
3. Launch interventions to reduce behavioral risks.

CHART offers 10 behavioral core modules (e.g., physical activity, tobacco use, etc.) and personalized, evidence-based and theory-guided feedback to reduce cancer risk factors.
