University Day 2015 to be held Oct. 12

All members of the UNC community are invited to attend the celebration commemorating the laying of the cornerstone of Old east and the official founding of the University. This year marks Carolina's 222nd birthday. UNC School of Medicine Faculty are encouraged to attend. Faculty should gather at the Old Well beginning at 10:30 a.m.

This year, for the first time, as faculty and staff process into Memorial Hall, each school will be identified with a gonfalon style banner, and faculty and staff will process behind their respective banner. Event organizers hope that each banner is followed by a prominent contingent from each school.

At the event in Memorial Hall, Chancellor Folt will deliver remarks on emerging strategic directions for UNC.

Academic regalia is not required cut can be rented or purchased through Student Stores. Regalia rentals may be kept through Winter Commencement if a faculty member is participating in both ceremonies.
