American Gastroenterological Association: Robert & Sally Funderburg Research Award in Gastric Cancer

The American Gastroenterological Association is accepting applications to support an established investigator working on novel approaches in gastric cancer research. Candidates must hold a full-time faculty position and must be established as an independent investigator in the field of gastric biology. AGA membership is required at the time of application submission. Award amount is up to $50,000 per year for up to two years. Application deadline is August 12, 2016.

The American Gastroenterological Association is accepting applications to support an established investigator working on novel approaches in gastric cancer research, including the fields of gastric mucosal cell biology; regeneration and regulation of cell growth (not as they relate to peptic ulcer disease or repair); inflammation (including Helicobacter pylori) as precancerous lesions; genetics of gastric carcinoma; oncogenes in gastric epithelial malignancies; epidemiology of gastric cancer; etiology of gastric epithelial malignancies; or clinical research in the diagnosis or treatment of gastric carcinoma. Proposed research project should align with the AGA’s goal to ultimately enhance the fundamental understanding of gastric cancer pathobiology in order to prevent or develop a cure for the disease. Candidates must hold a full-time faculty position and must be established as an independent investigator in the field of gastric biology. Women and minority investigators are encouraged to apply. AGA membership is required at the time of application submission. Funds will be used for salary support, equipment and supplies of the investigator to promote her/his research. Indirect costs are not allowed. Awards will be made to the institution, not the individual.
