The Gerber Foundation accepts concept papers for proposals that focus on pediatric health or pediatric nutrition research involving children under the age of three years. Projects for pediatric nutrition focus on applied research that evaluates the provision of specific nutrients and their related outcomes in infants and young children. Pediatric health projects focus on promoting health and preventing or treating disease. Applied research projects under pediatric health are focused on reducing the incidence of serious neonatal and early childhood illnesses, or improving cognitive, social and emotional aspects of development.

The board is looking for 'new' information in the research that they fund that would change the way care is provided - a new diagnostic tool or new therapy, etc. They have shown little interest in research aimed at parent education or instruction. Project should have wide-spread implications for health or nutrition and should be able to have an impact within three-five years of study completion. Awards are made to the institution.

Concept Paper Deadline: June 1. Invited full proposals are due August 15, 2016. Application Guidelines for the award.
