National Endowment for Financial Education: NEFE Grants and Research Program

The National Endowment for Financial Education is accepting letters of interest to support projects whose outcomes can improve the public's ability to achieve personal and household financial well-being. Award amount ranges from $100,000 to $150,000 for 1-3 years. The submission deadline is June 7.

The NEFE is accepting Letters of Interest (LOIs) to support projects whose outcomes can improve the public’s ability to achieve personal and household financial well-being. The NEFE is very interested in proactive research projects from a broad range of disciplines whose findings may cultivate critical thinking in the financial literacy community. Projects that put research recommendations into action are also welcome. Some encouraged discipline fields include behavior, economics, marketing, neuroscience, sociology, psychology, finance, education, change theory and decision sciences and others. Targeted funding themes include:

  • Understanding Financial Behavior
  • Advancing Innovative Thinking
  • Assuring Significance to Society

More information on funding interest themes can be found in application guidelines (see below). NEFE will not cover administrative/indirect costs, salaries of permanent staff, capital costs or other expenses.
