Ready, Set, Go - A "Hands on" Training for setting up the learning environment for young children with ASD (Wilmington)

This two-day training will provide a theoretical foundation as well as hands-on opportunities including: physically setting up an individualized learning environment, skill assessment, and developing and making activities.  Effective teaching strategies for young children with ASD in a home, clinic, or preschool setting will be presented.  The format includes presentations, small group activities as well as a make and take session of three activities.

Upon completion of this training, the participant will be able to:

  • Discuss the learning needs of  young children with autism
  • Develop individualized Structured TEACCHing Strategies to address the individual's learning needs 
  • Implement strategies to encourage successful collaboration between professionals and parents of young child with ASD
  • Use elements of physical structure to address individualized needs in the learning environment (clinic, home, classroom) 
  • Use assessment information to develop appropriate visual supports that encourage the child’s best understanding, attention, and participation
  • Use assessment information to develop meaningful, individualized teaching goals and activities
  • Develop and make visually structured teaching activities 
Target Audience
This two-day training is designed for Infant Toddler Service Providers, Preschool Service Providers, Preschool Teachers, Speech and Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, as well as others interested in educating Toddlers and Preschool aged children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ages 2-5). 

Continuing Education Credits
1.2 CEUs are available upon completion of the entire training program. 
It is the attendee's responsibility to check to see if your school, accreditation source, state, etc. will accept these CEUs.
