Burroughs Wellcome Fund: Innovation in Regulatory Science

The Burroughs Wellcome Fund will accept applications beginning Dec. 15, 2016 to fund academic investigators developing new methodologies or innovative approaches in regulatory science that will ultimately inform the regulatory decisions the FDA and others make. This would draw upon the talents of individuals trained in mathematics, computer science, applied physics, medicine, engineering, toxicology, epidemiology, biostatistics, and systems pharmacology. Award amount is up to $500,000 over five years. The final application deadline is March 15, 2017.

The Burroughs Wellcome Foundation will accept applications beginning Dec. 15, 2016 to fund academic investigators developing new methodologies or innovative approaches in regulatory science that will ultimately inform the regulatory decisions the FDA and others make. This would necessarily draw upon the talents of individuals trained in mathematics, computer science, applied physics, medicine, engineering, toxicology, epidemiology, biostatistics, and systems pharmacology. These awards are open to U.S. and Canadian citizens or permanent residents who have a faculty or adjunct faculty appointment at a North American degree-granting institution. Awards are made to degree-granting institutions in the U.S. or Canada on behalf of the awardee. All applicants will be required to complete a web-based questionnaire assessing their eligibility to apply for this award. If eligibility criteria are met, applicants will be automatically directed to the web-based proposal form. Self-nominations are allowed. All applications must be approved by an official responsible for sponsored programs at the institution where the work will be performed (generally from the institution’s grants and contracts office, office of research, or sponsored programs office).

Application Deadline: March 15, 2017. Finalists will be notified by May 2017 with in-person interviews conducted in late June 2017; award notifications will be made by late July 2017 with awards beginning Sept. 1, 2017.
