The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations has identified the following private funding opportunity:

Gerber Foundation: Pediatric Research
http://www.gerberfoundation.org

The Gerber Foundation is accepting concept papers for proposals that focus on pediatric health or pediatric nutrition research. The Pediatric Health program focuses on promoting health and preventing or treating disease. Applied research projects under pediatric health are focused on reducing the incidence of serious neonatal and early childhood illnesses, improving cognitive, social and emotional aspects of development. The board is looking for 'new' information in the research that they fund that would change the way care is provided -- a new diagnostic tool or new therapy, etc. The Foundation has historically shown little interest in research aimed at parent education or instruction. Project should have wide-spread implications for health or nutrition and should be able to have impact within three years of study. Awards are made to the institution.

Concept Paper Deadline: Dec. 1, 2016. Invited full proposals due Feb. 15, 2017 with beginning project date anticipated for July 1 (dependent on finalization of the grant agreement and IRB approvals). Application Guidelines for the award: http://www.gerberfoundation.org/how-to-apply/
