Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration: 2017 AFTD Susan Marcus Memorial Fund - Pilot Fund for Clinical Research

UPCOMING DEADLINE: The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) is accepting applications to provide seed funding for innovative research projects in the preliminary stages of development with the potential to address the unmet medical needs of frontotemporal degeneration (FTD). The FTD disorders include: behavioral variant FTD, primary progressive aphasia, progressive supranuclear palsy, corticobasal syndrome, and FTD-ALS/MND. Award amount up to $60,000. The application deadline is September 8, 2017 by 11:59pm EDT.

The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) is accepting applications to provide seed funding for innovative research projects in the preliminary stages of development with the potential to address the unmet medical needs of frontotemporal degeneration (FTD). The FTD disorders include: behavioral variant FTD, primary progressive aphasia, progressive supranuclear palsy, corticobasal syndrome, and FTD-ALS/MND. Pilot Grant funded projects are intended to generate data to support follow-on grant applications to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or other public or private agencies. Clinical Research Pilot Grants support projects utilizing human subjects and seeking to answer questions relevant to FTD clinical practice (diagnosis, progression, treatment, prevention). New or early-stage investigators/faculty in the process of establishing an independent research program are invited to apply. Principal investigators cannot be postdoctoral fellows unless confirmation is provided of a faculty appointment that will start within the first 3 months of the grant term (March 2018). One Clinical Research Pilot Grant will be awarded. PI salary may not represent more than 10% of total budget. Indirect costs are not allowed for this award.
