On Wednesday, August 9, former Whitehead lecturers from six different decades gathered along with Whitehead Medical Society student officers at the Ackland Art Museum on the UNC campus. They congratulated this year's lecturer, Dr. Brian Jensen of the Departments of Medicine (Division of Cardiology) and Pharmacology, and engaged in conversation about changes in medical education by viewing relevant artwork on display at the Ackland.  The group interpreted and discussed "The Stigmatization of St. Francis" (Vicente Carducho, early 17th century), which is an oil on canvas, and "I Wear Facemasks" (Kit Yi Wong, 2009), which is a custom-tailored cheongsam dress made out of 118 surgical facemasks. Carolyn Allmendinger, Ackland's Director of Academic Programs, along with her colleagues, coordinated the program.
