The Marfan Foundation: 2017 Faculty Grant Program

The Marfan Foundation is accepting applications to support two-year grants for basic, translation or clinical research. The grant program is designed to support senior faculty members studying any or all disciplines involved in Marfan syndrome and related disorders. Proposals are evaluated by The Marfan Foundation Scientific Advisory Board with the approval of the Board of Director. The Foundation will make up to three awards. Award amount is up to $100,000 over two years. The application deadline April 21, 2017.

The Marfan Foundation is accepting applications to support two-year grants for basic, translation or clinical research. The grant program is designed to support senior faculty members studying any or all disciplines involved in Marfan syndrome and related disorders. Proposals are evaluated by The Marfan Foundation Scientific Advisory Board with the approval of the Board of Director. Up to three awards will made. Applications should have the quality of NIH proposals, with special areas of interest in basic research, translational studies or clinical studies in cardiovascular, orthopedic, pulmonary, ophthalmologic, pain and other pertinent areas utilizing synergistic collaborations; integration of novel theories from non-traditional researchers into established paradigms; novel animal model systems; innovation, and the distillation of knowledge into practical new therapies. Special consideration given to proposals in non-cardiac disciplines and clinical research areas. The principal investigator must hold an MD, DO, PhD, ScD, DDS, DVM or equivalent degree. The investigator must have proven ability to pursue independent research as evidenced by original research publications in peer-reviewed journals and should hold a position of Associate Professor or above. Faculty members with less experience who have obtained an NIH R-01 grant are also eligible for the faculty grant award. The award will be made to the institution, not the individual.
