MHI Seminar Series present Anne Murphy, MD, "Phosphoproteomics in heart failure and cardiomyopathy"

Dr. Murphy is a Professor of Pediatrics and the Vice Chair for Basic and Translational Research at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Phosphorylation regulates many aspects of contraction of the cardiomyocyte. In this talk I will focus on our work defining the phosphoproteome of the sarcomere and the use of in vivo and in vitro studies to determine how alteration of the phosphorylation of troponin influences many aspects of heart function. I will also discuss new work that is unpublished in regard to tyrosine phosphorylation of the sarcomere proteins. I will also briefly mention our experience at Johns Hopkins clinical trial in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy being conducted by a national group
