Dr. DeWalt is Chief of the Division of General Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology, leads the UNC Department of Medicine’s Value Care Action Group, and works closely with UNC Health Care’s Population Value Care leaders. Dr. DeWalt has led local, regional, and national quality improvement initiatives and is well-regarded as a leader and expert in large-scale quality improvement. As a medical director and then division chief from 2004 to 2013 and UNC Medical Center Associate Chief Medical Officer for Quality since 2013, Dr. Schade Willis led numerous initiatives in the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center that have spread across UNC Health Care including:

•       Pediatric and Adult Rapid Response Systems Implementation

•       Clean In Clean Out

•       TeamSTEPPs Implementation

•       Patient and Family Engagement in Care and Improvement

•       Mortality Reduction through UNC Code Sepsis

Dr. Schade Willis co-founded IHQI in 2013 and became its director in 2016. Her impacts will be appreciated for years to come, and we wish her the best in her new endeavors.
