Surgery Grand Rounds, Jeyhan Wood & Scott Elton, "Abnormal Head Shapes: Evaluation and Management of Plagiocephaly and Craniosynostosis"

Dr. Jeyhan Wood, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery & Dr. Scott Elton, Pediatric Neurosurgery, present on how to diagnose and treat surgical and non-surgical abnormal head shapes. They will review the pathogenesis of each, the treatment of each including surgical and non-surgical options, the history of craniosynostosis and the evolution of its surgical management.

JeyhanwoodDr. Jeyhan Wood  is an Assistant Professor and Director of Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery at UNC since 2013. She attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, followed by an integrated plastic surgery residency at Wake Forest. She completed her training at UNC with a Craniofacial Fellowship. Her primary focus is as the Pediatric Plastic Surgeon, but also is involved with complex craniofacial reconstruction from trauma or congenital anomalies. She likes to enjoy her free time with her husband and 2 daughters, 5 and 2 years old.

Scott HeadshotDr. Scott W. Elton joined the Department of Neurosurgery in January 2013, to develop the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery where he now serves as Division Chief and Director. He completed medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, where he developed an initial interest in pediatric neurosurgery. Following medical school, he trained in neurosurgery at Ohio State University with 14 months of his training spent in pediatric neurosurgery at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Outside of UNC, Dr. Elton enjoys spending time with his family, and taking scuba diving and sailing trips.
