Arlene E. Chung, MD, MHA, MMCi, assistant professor of medicine and pediatrics, will be inducted into the 2ndcohort of Fellows of the American Medical Informatics Association (FAMIA).

The designation of FAMIA recognizes members who apply informatics skills and knowledge within their professional setting, who have demonstrated professional achievement and leadership, and who have a sustained commitment to the betterment of AMIA.

This includes: 1) impact on individuals or populations through informatics initiatives to enhance health care, population health, or personal health impact on organizations, 2) impacting organizations through informatics iniatiatives designed to enhance performance and learning, 3) leveraging informatics tools and methods to promote better health, healthcare, or informatics practices, and 4) impact on team effectiveness by leading and managing informatics change.

This year’s cohort includes 154 professionals in applied informatics. She will be inducted at the AMIA 2020 Clinical Informatics Conference. Dr. Chung serves as the Associate Director of the Program on Health and Clinical Informatics for the UNC School of Medicine, the Lead Informatics Physician for Patient Engagement for UNC Health Care, and is the founding fellowship director of the UNC Hospitals Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program.
